(Oh and also there's unmerciful amount of washing / ironing /cleaning to be done.. Still its good to be home!)
I have to admit that when i first arrived in California I wasn't so impressed.
First of all i was flown from London -> LAX -> San Diego in order to get to Irvine. The silly thing about this is that Irvine is about an hour south of LAX (a short drive) but its also about an hour and a bit north of SanDiego. Travel dept pretty much flew me over where i was going and onwards 90 miles in the wrong direction! :-/
Second thing is that it, for some strange reason, didnt occur to me to ask for a GPS in my hire car. Which of course made getting anywhere a complete headache. its amazing i even found my hotel the first night. I'm fairly impressed that with only a slight knowledge of the roads i saw on google maps and some luck i got from San Diego to my hotel in Irvine in well under 2 hours!
My first few days in the office were not the luckies in the world. Day 1, i set out for the office and about 10 minutes into the trip some idiot american driver runs a stop sign and runs into the side of my car. OK, there were no injuries and only a little bit of a dent, and the other guy was all apologies but still not a good start to the trip.
Subsequently on day 2, i got a ride to work from a buddy in the office. After work we decide to go for a beer. Now because i hadnt driven i didnt have my drivers licence or any government issued id.. And of course i got carded... So i "borrowed" a friends car, zipped home and back again a 1/2 hour later to have a beer! AHH satisfying! :)
So a quick selection of what i got up to over there. I actually took over 500 photos (bryan entered tourist mode) I'll update this post with where to see the rest of them once i get them online.
There was Universal Studios:
And there was load of beautiful sandy beaches:
But there was traffic:
And Sea-World was pretty cool:
